Mr. Akeim Young

Giunta Giant Family,

I am so proud to be the principal at Giunta Middle School. Giunta is continuing to trend in the right direction, with one of the hardest working staff in all of  Hillsborough County. I am so happy to be a part of Giunta’s continued progress and success.

I was raised here in Tampa, Florida, but am an Alabama native. I earned my B.A in Early Childhood Education from Alabama State University and obtained an M.A. in Educational Leadership. I am certified in all subjects, Pk-8th grade levels.

As an educator with over sixteen years of experience in education, and seven of those years as an administrator, my educational background and personal experiences have helped shaped my philosophy of education. I believe all students can learn and that every child is gifted. I also believe it is the responsibility of the learning environment, along with all stakeholders, to provide the necessary resources and genuine care to assist all students in reaching their full potential.

I am honored to be serving Giunta’s students as well as its community. Our focus will continue to be effective instruction and maintaining a safe learning environment. My door will always be open, feel free to stop by and say hello. GO GIANTS GO!!

Dr. Heather Lynch

As an assistant principal at Giunta Middle School, I bring a diverse background and a strong commitment to education. I was born in Florida and raised in Georgia, but my journey in education led me back to Florida in 1991 when I enrolled at the University of South Florida to pursue a degree in Education.

With 23 years of experience in the field, my career began at Clair-Mel Elementary School, and I subsequently served in various learning communities within the district, including Young Middle Magnet, where I excelled as a Mathematics teacher and subject area leader. I also ventured beyond the district to serve as an assistant principal in several charter schools within the county.

During my time away from the district, I dedicated myself to furthering my education, earning a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University. In 2016, I returned to the district, taking on the role of an Algebra and Geometry teacher at Shields Middle School. My dedication to education and leadership continued to shine as I served as a math coach and department head at Middleton High School in 2018 before finding my place at Giunta Middle School.

Upon joining Giunta Middle School, I began my tenure as the RtI resource teacher, a role I held for two years before stepping into the position of assistant principal for curriculum in January 2021.

I am deeply honored to be part of the Giunta Giant family and to serve as an assistant principal overseeing curriculum and instruction. Our school has made remarkable progress in recent years, and we are committed to raising the bar even higher. We are proud to provide our students with more opportunities, including high school credit courses and STEM-related offerings. Our goal is to ignite our students' interest and open doors of opportunity for every single one of them.

I am excited about the future and the continued growth and success of our students here at Giunta Middle School. Together, as a united educational community, we will achieve great things.
