King High School has a long and proud tradition of excellence in academics, the arts and athletics. We strive to create a space where students, teachers, parents, staff and the community can collaborate to continue the tradition of excellence established by the thousands of dedicated staff and alumni who have made a positive impact on our community. There are high expectations for citizenship in our school community, and a high level of engagement by all stakeholders to ensure our young people have the support they need to excel as a learner while being exposed to a curriculum designed to prepare them for their future. This sort of collaboration has proven to make a difference in education and provide students with the opportunity to reach their potential and has proven to be beneficial to the students at King High School.

King has a number of notable alumni among gradates since 1960: Pam Iorio (Mayor of Tampa 2003 – 2011), former Major League Baseball players Tim Crews, Calvin Pickering and Derek Bell, professional golfer Gary Koch, and former State Attorney Pam Bondi.

King has been recognized by Newsweek Magazine as being among the Top 10% of all high schools in America and our students continue to excel academically earning millions of dollars in scholarships for their academics, athletics and the arts. Our students are also very active in our community; volunteering to support worthwhile causes that provide a positive impact on life and society. Students have raised well over $100,000 for cancer research through Relay for Life, support local families through our Food Pantry and spend time reading to children at local schools.
