Bloomingdale High School opened in 1987 in the eastern part of Hillsborough County on an 80-acre campus surrounded by lush pastures, orange groves and strawberry fields. An additional wing was added on to the school in 1999, and the school was renovated in 2012.
Academically, Bloomingdale was recognized as a Red Carpet School by the Florida Department of Education in 1990, and earned an A school grade from the state in 2022, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. From 2012 to 2014, it also served as a national demonstration school for CollegeBoard’s SpringBoard program.
Bloomingdale also has a history of state championships in cheerleading, golf, track, boys and girls soccer, and boasts the 2014 8A state champion softball team. Its organizations also bring home state titles, including 27 straight years of straight superiors at FBA for the Rajun’ Bull Marching Band and SIPA’s best yearbook in Florida. The 2014 senior class earned $6.8 million in scholarships. Bloomingdale also had the highest AP exam pass rate in Hillsborough County Public Schools in 2014 at 61.1%.
