Madison Middle School...Where We Are Always Striving for Excellence
-
Madison Middle School is committed to preparing students for life by engaging students in experiences that will help cultivate their academic, social, and emotional abilities. All students will have four core classes (Math, English/Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies), and three elective classes daily. Our electives are Spanish, Family Consumer Science/Culinary, Art, Band, AVID-College and Career Readiness, Orchestra, Technology, and Reading. Last school year (2022-2023), we introduced our monthly academic/social clubs, and it was an excellent experience for our students. In addition, students have an opportunity to participate in extracurricular sports (if eligible). Our extracurricular sports include: Girls & Boys Basketball, Girls & Boys Volleyball, Girls & Boys Track & Field, Girls & Boys Soccer, and Girls & Boys Flag Football.
At Madison, we have high expectations for all of our students and believe our students will succeed with the support of our faculty, staff, students, and the community.
Out-of-this World Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Academy-Advanced Honors program
Madison Middle School’s STEM Aerospace Academy is one of the premiere Choice programs in Hillsborough County Public Schools. Students accepted into this program will engage in rigorous coursework, project-based learning, competitions, and field trips to prepare them for opportunities in Aerospace/STEM. In addition, students will have an opportunity to engage in on-site flight simulation and robotics activities. Students are a part of grade-level cohorts throughout their middle school career. All academy students are required to take a Technology course every year while attending Madison.

School History
-
James Madison Junior High School opened in 1952. In 1992-93 the school became James Madison Middle School. Several former students have gone on to become professional athletes, including the wrestler Dusty Rhodes and former professional football player, John Reaves. The Ray Escobar Relays, an annual countywide track meet, is named for a former coach/teacher at Madison. The school board named the school after the fourth president of the United States, and chose maroon and white as the school colors. Our school mascot is a Mustang.
