Report an Absence

Breakfast starts at 7:10 and learning starts at 7:40.

School Hours: Monday 7:10-12:55 & Tuesday - Friday 7:10 - 1:55.

10 or more absences and/or 5 or more tardies will result in an indicator on a student's report card.

Student Absences:

  • Absences must be reported by 7:40 AM on the day of the absence by an adult.
  • All absences negatively affect a student's education and the learning environment for other students.
  • If a student's attendance falls below 90%, they will miss out on:
    • Extracurricular activities
    • School jobs and privileges
    • Scholar Dollar store shopping
    • Celebrations
    • School-sponsored trips
  • Tardies are also counted as part of attendance and can affect the same privileges.

Reporting an Excused Absence:

  • Parent/guardian must report the absence within three business days via:
    • In person
    • Telephone: Call (813) 740-7733 and press 1
  • Pre-arranged and extended absences must be reported in the same manner.

These procedures ensure that all absences are properly documented.

Make-Up Work:

  • Students should not expect "make-up" work for missed lessons.
    • There is no substitute for direct instruction from the teacher.
    • Attempting to complete missed work without the appropriate instructions can lead to misunderstandings and bad habits.
    • Much of the learning is hands-on or involves materials that may not be available at home.

This emphasizes the importance of regular attendance for both academic success and participation in school activities. Thank you for your support and cooperation with our attendance policies!
