Tampa Bay Technical High School reached a major milestone as students in the Vet Assisting program participated in the school’s first on-campus veterinary surgery. 🐾💉
With support from veterinary professionals and students from Hillsborough Community College, TBT students gained real-world experience in a clinical environment — practicing surgical prep, patient monitoring, sterilization, teamwork, and professional communication.
This hands-on training prepares students for future careers in veterinary medicine, animal care, and related health science pathways.

We’d like to take a moment to wish Collins PreK-8’s current principal, Rebecca Sargable, a happy and well-deserved retirement!
Rebecca began her career with HCPS in 1996, teaching at Sulphur Springs and Boyette Springs Elementary Schools. She transitioned into administration in 2008 as assistant principal at Roosevelt Elementary, later serving as principal of Lanier Elementary in 2012 before moving to Collins in 2015.
Her vision and dedication have inspired countless educators and students, leaving a legacy that will continue to shape the Collins community for years to come. Congratulations, Rebecca, on your retirement!

Congratulations to Ron Smiley on being named the new principal of Collins PreK-8 School!
Ron began his career with HCPS in 1999 as a part-time staff member in the ESE department at Bing Elementary. He later taught Varying Exceptionalities (VE) students at Clair-Mel and Bing Elementary Schools before serving as a district area ESE specialist in 2007. Ron entered school leadership in 2010 as assistant principal at Kingswood Elementary and has since served at Doby Elementary and, most recently, at Collins PreK-8.
We’re confident your leadership will continue to strengthen the #PantherPride that defines Collins!
