We’re excited to announce that the School Board has named our new technical college in Plant City after former Mayor Rick Lott, honoring his decades of leadership and commitment to education.
Opening this fall for adult education, and to high school students in January, Rick Lott Technical College will offer programs in industrial electricity, welding technology, building construction, HVAC, and forklift certification. These programs can be completed in about a year, helping students step into high-demand, well-paying careers right here in our community.
This new chapter in Plant City education is a testament to the power of community, partnership, and vision.

There’s nothing like a surprise visitor on campus to make a Monday morning snappy! 🐊
When your job description says “other duties as assigned,” sometimes that means wrangling a baby gator. Shoutout to Northwest Elementary’s assistant principal, Mrs. Cheng, for guiding Snappy safely back to the wetlands and keeping our Nighthawks safe.

Alejandro Cuellar thought he was just stopping by Jefferson High School to pick up his diploma. Instead, he was met with a surprise graduation ceremony, surrounded by family, teammates, and staff.
A former defensive lineman for the Jefferson Dragons, Alejandro couldn’t attend graduation in May or over the summer due to ongoing treatments for bone cancer.
Despite the challenges, his prognosis is good, and today’s celebration was a powerful reminder of his strength, resilience, and the support of his school community.
Once a Dragon, Always a Dragon! 🐉💙🎓
