It's time to leave your own mark with a bookmark for our Hillsborough Reads Bookmark Contest! 🎨📖
We are inviting HCPS educators and students in all grades to design a colorful 2.5" x 7" bookmark that captures the theme "Get Caught Reading" for a chance to have their artwork professionally printed and shared across our schools.
Students can ask their school's media specialist for a copy of the bookmark contest guidelines and must submit their entries to their school's art teacher by EOD on Friday, Oct. 31. Winners will be announced in December!
For more details or the official entry form, visit https://bit.ly/hillsreadsbookmark.

Davidsen students who missed Picture Day or would like to have their picture retaken will have another opportunity on October 13. Uniforms are optional for students taking pictures. Order portraits at my.Lifetouch.com using code EVTHJJJJX.
If your student did not miss the first day but would like a retake, send the original portrait back with your student. Your student must communicate that they would like a retake when portraits are called and bring the originals back to the photographer. (1-3 pm in the Media Center.)

Davidsen Middle School continues to communicate with the Hillsborough County Public Works to streamline the flow of traffic to and from our school. Yesterday, traffic engineers monitored the Montague/Linebaugh intersection and adjusted the traffic signal to further improve timing. The goal is to create a balance on Linebaugh that moves the traffic with the best flow possible in both directions during the busy pick up and drop off times. A note to drivers: The sensor at the intersection will cause the light to cycle the signal if there is a significant gap between vehicles for the left turn arrow. Traffic engineers ask that drivers stay attentive at the light and keep up with the vehicle directly ahead of them when turning left to minimize these gaps. We thank everyone for your assistance in streamlining the traffic flow in our community's school zones.

Davidsen students take PM1 ELA and Math assessments Sept 2-11. These state tests are used to establish individual baselines for the year ahead. Tests will be administered each morning on these dates:
Tuesday Sept 2: Period 1
Wednesday Sept 3: Period 2
Thursday Sept 4: Period 3
Friday Sept 5: Period 4
Tuesday Sept 9: Period 5
Wednesday Sept 10: Period 6
Thursday Sept 11: Period 7
Tests are scheduled by period; for example, if your student has math class in their 5th period, they will take their math PM1 assessment on Tuesday Sept 9th.
Please make sure your student is rested and prepared for these assessments, and do not plan to sign out during the testing window (10:00-11:45 am)
