FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tampa, Fl. (December 18, 2025) – The School District is proud to announce that Robinson High School seniors Sharan Santharam Srinivasan, Ammar Omar, and Sujay Korada have been named the top winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Florida’s 14th District. Their innovative app, “SunScreened,” combines JavaScript and AI image processing to help users understand the harmful effects of UV rays and the importance of sunscreen for skin health.
This achievement highlights the incredible talent and creativity of our students and reflects the district’s commitment to providing hands-on STEM opportunities that prepare learners for the careers of tomorrow. Through programs like coding courses, robotics clubs, and partnerships with national initiatives, we empower students to turn ideas into impactful solutions.
The winning app will be showcased at the House of Code celebration in Washington, D.C., where Sharan, Ammar, and Sujay will represent not only Robinson High School but the entire Tampa Bay community on a national stage.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing STEM opportunities and demonstrating how creativity and technology can solve real-world problems. Competitions like the Congressional App Challenge inspire innovation and prepare our learners for future careers in science, medicine, and technology,” said Superintendent Van Ayres. “Sharan, Ammar, and Sujay exemplify the talent and dedication we see across our district, and their app is a powerful example of using knowledge for the public good. We look forward to cheering them on as they represent our school district at the U.S. Capitol this spring.”
The students shared that their inspiration came from Florida’s sunny climate and the need to raise awareness about skin health. SunScreened offers real-time UV tracking, personalized SPF recommendations, burn-time calculations, and AI-powered skin analysis, turning awareness into action.
The Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide initiative that encourages students to learn coding and explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Our district is proud to support these efforts and will continue to expand STEM programs that advance technical skills, foster creativity, problem-solving, and leadership.
