1st Place App Challenge Winner

Tampa, Fl. (November 14, 2025) – Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) proudly announces that several outstanding students won top honors at the 2025 Congressional App District Challenge, hosted by Congresswoman Laurel Lee. This prestigious national competition encourages middle and high school students to learn coding and create innovative applications that address real-world problems.

Congratulations to HCPS students taking the top honors:

  • 1st Place – NeuroPath App: An AI-powered to detect and monitor neurodegenerative diseases to improve early diagnosis and care.

  • 2nd Place – RemindMe App: An app designed to help people with memory-related conditions to stay connected with their loved ones.
    Alex Sun (Steinbrenner High School)

  • 3rd Place – CareConnect App: An app to connect people who need help with people who are ready to help.

“Our students continue to demonstrate that when given meaningful opportunities to tackle real-world challenges, they rise to the occasion with creativity and determination,” said Superintendent Van Ayres. “We are incredibly proud of their achievements and grateful to our congressional representatives for championing computer science and STEM pathways that open doors for every child’s future.”

The Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide initiative that aims to inspire students to pursue careers in computer science and technology. The winning app will also be eligible to be on display in the U.S. Capitol, along with other winners from across the country.
