Tampa, Fl. (July 7, 2024) – Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) is proud to announce a strong upward trajectory in student achievement, as reflected in Florida Department of Education’s (FLDOE) newly released 2024-25 school grades—demonstrating district-wide growth and a continued standard of academic excellence.
The FLDOE’s school grading system focuses on five areas of student success measures: achievement, learning gains, graduation, acceleration success, and maintaining a focus on students who need the most support.
Highlights:
Increased the number of As from 63 to 70
Increased the number of Bs from 40 to 44
Two elementary schools that moved two letter grades from C to A:
Kenly Elementary
Mendenhall Elementary
Decreased the number of Ds from 9 to 5
The FLDOE 2024-25 School Improvement Ratings were also released which are calculated for alternative schools and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) center schools that choose to receive a school improvement rating in lieu of a school grade. Three schools included in this list retained the highest rating: Medical Academy at DW Waters, Simmons Career Center, and South County Career Center.
“These achievements are a result not only of the hard work of our students, teachers, support professionals, and school administrators, but also of our laser-like focus on high-quality core instruction in every classroom and intentional progress monitoring to drive these impressive results,” said Superintendent Van Ayres. “We are ready to build on this momentum!”
