Tampa, Fl. (March 20, 2024) – Leaders with Hillsborough County Public Schools are excited to announce that fifteen new school sites will qualify for the Florida Department of Health After-School Meals Program, beginning April 1. This program offers an extra meal or nutritious snacks to all students participating in after-school enrichment programs at the fifteen schools. Our dedicated Student Nutrition Services team offers the snacks or meals at no expense to parents and allows for students to receive extra fruits and vegetables every day.
“We are grateful that our Student Nutrition Services team applied to expand this program in our district, allowing even more of our students to have access to nutritious meals after the regular school day ends. Whether the students are involved in after-school tutoring or other enrichment activities, we know we are building stronger, healthier communities through these nutritional programs,” said Van Ayres, Hillsborough County Public Schools Superintendent.
