Tampa, Fl. (April 5, 2023) – Hillsborough County Public Schools’ seniors will network with more than 50 of the community’s top employers at six upcoming hiring events, with the goal to land a career right after graduation.

The Future Fair Hiring Events will take place over six days in different areas of our community thanks to a wonderful collaboration between the Future Career Academy (FCA) and Hillsborough County Public Schools.

The hiring fairs will give Tampa-area employers, representing a diverse range of industries, the opportunity to engage with hundreds of young, qualified, and enthusiastic job prospects eager to launch their careers. The Class of 2023 will attend the events to network and fill out job applications, while also learning about training, certification, and internship opportunities.

So far this school year, 9,000 students have participated in the FCA program. Future Career Academy expanded their high school workforce program this year to cover all 32 Hillsborough County high schools and career centers. Each week, seniors in English 4 and English 4 Honors classes are immersed in workforce development curriculum. Students have also participated in panel discussions with business executives and field trips visiting local companies, all with the goal of attending the Future Fair Hiring Event and securing a job with a local company.

"These hiring fairs have the potential to unlock a world of possibilities for our seniors and allow them to explore a multitude of career opportunities. Our students will meet with prospective employers who will be offering different positions, work hours and compensation levels," said Superintendent Addison Davis. "Tampa was just named one of the “World’s Greatest Places” by TIME Magazine, so what better place to launch your career than right here in our backyard?"

In May, schools will hold Signing Days, where many students will sign a Letter of Intent with their new company and their chosen career path before they even graduate.

The FCA program has an impressive record of matching young workers with full-time jobs which has helped to boost local companies’ workforce.

“Tampa Electric is proud to provide about 2,500 jobs in this community. Each of these jobs plays a critical role in providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity to our neighbors and the businesses that power our economy. Through this partnership with Hillsborough County Public Schools, we’re working to recruit the next generation of employees who will implement our vision to be safer, cleaner and more efficient than ever. We’re excited to recruit the best talent from within the communities we serve,” said Archie Collins, President and Chief Executive Officer of TECO Tampa Electric.

In addition to students, the hiring fairs will be open each day from 12-2pm for adult jobseekers as part of Best Florida Jobs, which will help round out the hiring needs of businesses and serve both students’ families and the community’s hiring needs.
