Tampa, Fl. (August 22, 2024) – Hillsborough County Public Schools is proud to announce its recognition as a Cambridge Showcase District, a prestigious designation that underscores the district’s unwavering commitment to student success through the Cambridge program.

Since becoming a Cambridge district in 2020, Hillsborough has distinguished itself with innovative teaching practices that emphasize skill-based learning. This approach equips students with essential competencies and deepens their academic knowledge.

The Cambridge Pathway, offered by Cambridge International Education, part of the University of Cambridge, provides a globally respected framework for education from ages 3 to 19. This adaptable curriculum allows schools to meet local needs while maintaining international standards. To earn the Showcase District honor, Hillsborough underwent a rigorous review process, demonstrating its dedication to delivering the highest standards of education.

This recognition reflects Hillsborough’s ongoing commitment to empowering students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Recent achievements in the district’s Cambridge AICE program include:

A 57.7% pass rate in Cambridge AICE exams, a 3.5% increase from 2023.

The district nearly doubled the number of exams administered, with over 19,200 exams submitted for grading.

A 72% pass rate in AICE English General Paper, with over 7,000 exams taken.

A remarkable 94.9% pass rate in AICE Spanish Language.

132 students from four Cambridge sites (Sumner, Wharton, Leto, and Plant City high schools) earned their Cambridge AICE Diploma.

“We are so proud of our students for this incredible achievement. Our district has made it a priority to expand accelerated opportunities for all students. All of our high schools have AICE courses on top of our additional accelerated programs such as Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, and International Baccalaureate to meet the unique learning needs of our students,” said Superintendent Van Ayres.
