Tampa, Fl. (February 9, 2023) – The Magnet Schools of America have honored Hillsborough County Public Schools with National Merit Awards, only earned by the top Magnet Schools in the United States. This year, 17 schools received the prestigious awards, placing Hillsborough Schools in 6th place in the nation. These accolades are earned by schools demonstrating a commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful diversity efforts, specialized teaching staff, and parent and community involvement. This year’s winners include: 

Elementary:

  • Dunbar Elementary Magnet School 

  • Lincoln Elementary Magnet School 

  • MacFarlane Park Elementary Magnet School 

  • Shore Elementary Magnet School 

Middle:

  • Boys Preparatory Academy at Franklin Middle Magnet School 

  • Greco Middle Magnet School 

  • Marshall Middle Magnet School 

  • Orange Grove Middle Magnet School 

  • Progress Village Middle Magnet School 

  • Sligh Middle Magnet School 

  • Walker Middle Magnet School 

  • Williams Middle Magnet School 

High:

  • Armwood High School 

  • Leto High School 

  • Middleton High School 

  • Spoto High School 

  • Tampa Bay Technical High School
