Tampa, Fl. (December 11, 2024) – On Monday, December 16, at 11:00 a.m., Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) will honor the remarkable legacy of Dr. Wayne Anthony Quin with a special dedication ceremony at Gary Adult High School. The school’s multi-purpose room will be officially renamed the “Dr. Wayne Anthony Quin Multi-Purpose Room” to commemorate his lifelong contributions to civil rights, education, and the Tampa community.

Dr. Quin’s commitment to service and education was profound. After earning advanced degrees from the University of South Florida, he joined Hillsborough County Public Schools in 1997, where he worked tirelessly to empower students, particularly at-risk adults. His leadership at Gary Adult High School included creating programs such as the “Lecture on the Hill” speaker series and the “Suit Up and Show Up” initiative, both of which continue to inspire students to achieve their full potential.

“Dr. Quin was a pillar of strength, resilience, and inspiration,” said Superintendent Van Ayres. “His story is one of courage, perseverance, and service to others. This dedication ensures that his legacy continues to inspire future generations.”

The dedication ceremony will feature remarks from Superintendent Ayres, district leaders, and members of Dr. Quin’s family, as well as a reflection on his lasting impact on the Gary Adult School community.
