Hello Williams Families,

We hope you are enjoying your summer break!

As we near the start of the 25-26 school year, we would like to provide you all with some information for Open House.

We will be hosting Open House on Thursday, August 7.

Please only come to Open House during your child's designated time.

Open House Schedule: Thursday, August 7

Year 1

12:00 PM – 2:00

Pick-up Schedule in homeroom and follow student bell schedule

Informational Session (Year 1-3)

GYMNASIUM

Year 2 & 3

3:00 – 4:30

Year 2& 3 Pick-up schedule in homeroom and visit teachers

You will receive your schedule from your homeroom teacher and follow an abbreviated schedule. You will receive a canvas message from your homeroom teacher no later than Wednesday, August 6, at 4:00PM. Year 1 students, please stick to the schedule; if you do not, you will likely miss important information.

Uniforms: All students must wear a school uniform. Our uniform policy promotes a positive learning environment and contributes to school spirit and safety.

       Navy, collared/polo shirt (no emblems) & Khaki bottoms

       Pullover or hooded sweatshirts are NOT permitted. In cold weather, solid black or navy jackets or sweaters with a full zipper/snaps/buttons from top to bottom are acceptable over the school uniform shirt.

       Closed toe shoes must be worn. Flip-flops, shower shoes, slides, skate shoes, Crocs, or similar type shoes, including slippers, are not acceptable. 

Athletics:

       Students interested in playing intermural sports must complete the application process online. Students and their parents must each create an account on www.planeths.com

       Athletic forms only need to be completed once for the whole school year. A student will not be allowed to participate in athletics if their applications are not completed in its entirety.

       Required documents include, but are not limited to: Sports Physical, Birth Certificate, Insurance, Proof of Residence.

       BASKETBALL season is HERE! Applications and all paperwork MUST be completed by August 17th by 5 PM. There will be no exceptions.

School Nurse: Contact Nurse Raven Wright (LPN) or Nurse Essie Mobley (RN) with questions regarding student health, 6th grade health screenings, and student medicine. The clinic is located in the front office.

Canvas:

       Canvas is our learning platform where students may check grades, access assignments, access class materials/resources, contact teachers & participate in class discussions.

       Williams Expectation: All parents and students create their own account and check Canvas daily.

       We encourage PARENTS to make an account ASAP.

       When setting up a new account it will ask you for your school. Choose Hillsborough County Public Schools.

Volunteers Wanted!

       We do some amazing things at Williams, and we need your help! The district volunteer application can take several weeks for the application to clear, so please complete yours ASAP! We frequently need help with field trips, campus events, photocopying, bulletin boards...you can even help from home!

Arrival/Dismissal

       School Hours

       Mondays: 8:30 – 2:25 (Early Release)

       Tuesday-Friday: 8:30 – 3:25

       Cafeteria closes at 8:20AM for Breakfast, please ensure your child is in the cafeteria by 8:15AM to have time to receive and eat their breakfast before the cafeteria closes, if they plan to eat breakfast at school.

       Car Line

       Dropoff in front of the MPR; students will enter through the middle gates.

       Students may not be dropped off before 8 AM (there is no supervision). Please utilize HOST.

       All cars must wait in the car line. Please be patient the first week until everyone is familiar with the procedure.

       The faculty parking lot is NOT for student drop off (faculty only).

       There is no left turn out of the parking lot during arrival and dismissal (it is the law).

       Buses:

       Bus riders will enter through Gate A, by the office.

       Food/drink are not permitted on the bus.

       Bus passes will be given during Open House with your schedule.

HOST

       AM (starting at 6:45 AM) in the MPR

       PM HOST (until 6:00 PM) – students will meet in cafeteria but will be picked up from the MPR

       Bring registration packet with payment the first day of school when you pick your child up

Schoolwide Expectations

       All students will wear the school uniform

       Follow cell phone/BYOD expectations

       Food/drink outside of the cafeteria is not permitted

       Gum/Candy is not permitted

       Walk with a purpose (no running)

       Be on time and prepared to school and all classes

       Keep your hands and feet to yourself

       Be kind and respectful to each other

       Inappropriate, derogatory and/or inflammatory language is unacceptable.

First Days Supplies

       For the first two days, please bring limited supplies

       Pencils, pens, erasers, pocket folder, loose-leaf paper

       Please do not bring all supplies on the first day of school

       Water bottles! Students will need a water bottle ASAP to utilize our refill stations.

       Please order your Student Success Packet (Student Planner, Lanyard, and Student ID) $15 on mypaymentplus.

Late Work Policy - Assignments are due on the date provided in class. No work will be accepted 5 days after that.

Lunch Tutoring — Available for students who need extra support in any course. More details will be coming soon!
