Ben Hill Middle School is excited to announce a new program launching in Fall 2026 — the Conservatory of Music and Leadership!

As a new pathway and feeder program to Gaither High School, the Conservatory is built on the belief that music develops more than talent — it builds character, confidence, and leadership. This structured, three-year program will provide students with the foundation to grow as both musicians and leaders.

Students will develop exceptional musical skills in performance, theory, and appreciation, while learning how to lead themselves and others.

Beginning in sixth grade, students select band, chorus, or orchestra as their primary ensemble. In seventh and eighth grade, they continue their ensemble studies while also taking a Conservatory elective, where they explore piano, music composition, and audio/video engineering. These classes also emphasize leadership development, such as goal setting, teamwork, and personal organization, preparing students for success in music and in life.

We believe that music has the power to change lives. Through the Ben Hill Conservatory of Music and Leadership, students don’t just learn how to perform — they learn how to lead, to grow, and to become the best versions of themselves.

Students interested in joining the program can apply during an upcoming HCPS Choice, Magnet, and Hillsborough Virtual School Application Window. The first window is open now through Sunday, Dec. 7, at 11:59 p.m.
