Lennard High School Local Scholarship Information 2021
- All local scholarships (as well as all other scholarships) are available on my canvas page, Lennard College and Career, the school website, or in my office located in guidance.
- You may come to research them during your lunch period, before school, or if given a pass by your teacher or message Ms. Kelley on canvas.
- The Lennard general scholarship application can be used for multiple scholarships available in our community. A listing of these local scholarships follows these instructions.
- The Lennard general scholarship form* should be typed or written neatly. The appearance of your applications is extremely important. Every year the local donors comment on the appearance of the applications. This general form also requires a short essay about your personal goals, hardships, needs, and interests. (Some scholarships will ask that you write an essay on a specific topic, make sure you are completing the correct essay for each scholarship you are turning in). In addition to your essay, two letters of recommendation are also required. Most scholarship committees ask that one be from a teacher, guidance counselor, or school employee and the other from someone you
have contact with in the community, such as someone from church, your job, etc. Please have these
letters typed and addressed “To Whom It May Concern.” Make sure to have these letters and essays saved to a thumb/flash drive in order to be used for multiple scholarships.
- If the scholarship you are applying for does not accept the general Lennard form, you can obtain a copy of the organization’s application from the Lennard website, my canvas page, or in my office. Please make sure any applications you are filling out are complete and neatly done before turning them in.
- If you are asked to be interviewed by one of the scholarship committees, make sure you are on time and dressed in business attire. Interviews may be by zoom, so you still want to dress nice. If you are selected as a recipient, make sure to write the committee who selected you a “thank you” note. Ms. Kelley can assist you if you need help with either of these issues. You should continue to keep in touch with the committee throughout your college career, as some of these scholarships are renewable for your entire college career. VERY IMPORTANT: In most cases if you are awarded a scholarship that is renewable, it is YOUR responsibility to send the organization(s) the information they need each year you’re in college for renewal purposes.
