Welcome Letter (Spanish)

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We can’t wait to see everyone return to school on Monday, August 12th. We have been working hard all summer to prepare for the upcoming school year. Below is important information regarding Meet the Teacher, school hours, uniform policy, arrival and dismissal procedures, and classroom assignments. We are excited to see ALL of our Davis family!

Meet the Teacher
Meet the Teacher will be Thursday, August 8th  from 3-5pm. Come and meet your child’s new teacher! During this time, you may also become a PTA or SAC member, buy a school spirit shirt, register for HOST, and complete information on how your child will be getting home from school. You are also welcome to bring in your child’s school supplies.

School Hours
School hours are Tuesday through Friday 7:40 am to 1:55pm. Students are allowed on campus at 7:10am. On Mondays is an early release at 12:55pm.

Last year we had a tremendous number of tardies. The district policy states: A student is tardy when the student arrives after the beginning of the school day. Students will be marked tardy if they are not in their classroom when the 7:40am bell rings. Students are missing academic instruction when they are tardy. Please make sure your child arrives to school on time daily.

Uniform Policy
Davis Elementary is a mandatory uniform school. This policy was determined by the parents of our school through a parent survey and approved by the PTA and School Advisory Council. Our uniform includes Navy Blue or Khaki pants, jumpers, shorts, skirts, or skorts. Shirts must be Navy Blue, Goldenrod (yellow), or White collared (polo style). Uniforms must be worn daily. On Mondays, show your school spirit and wear your Davis spirit shirt. On Fridays, pay a dollar for a wristband and wear an outfit of your choice within the dress code district policy.

Birthday Celebration Policy
In an effort to maximize instructional time and limit potential allergic reactions by our students, the following procedures are in place. Store bought cupcakes or cookies and individual juice boxes are to be dropped off in the front office. Office staff will make sure the items are delivered to the classroom and the teacher will determine the best time to hand out the items. Thank you for your support.

Volunteers
Would you like to volunteer at school? We welcome volunteers at Davis! We have opportunities available in the classrooms, during school events, or through PTA. Fill out a volunteer form at  www.hillsboroughschools.org/volunteer.

Early Sign Out
When an adult requests to pick up a student before the end of the school day, they must have a picture ID. Students will only be released to individuals listed on their emergency cards. Early sign out must be done before 12:30pm on Mondays and 1:30pm Tuesday- Friday.

Morning Drop Off
Morning drop off for car riders is in the back of the school starting at 7:10am daily. At 7:35am, cars will be redirected to the front of the school where students will be signed in by their parents.

Afternoon Pick Up
Afternoon Pick Up for car riders is in the back of the school. A blue hang tag must be present in the window for pick up. Anyone without a hang tag will have to go to the office. Parents MUST wait in their vehicle for students to be released. You may not bring your hang tag to the office to avoid waiting in line.

You will need to stay in the right hand lane only (single file). Parent pick up moves very quickly if all parents stay in their vehicles. For everyone’s safety, please remain in your vehicle until you reach the student pick up area. Cell phones usage during this time is prohibited.

Students who walk or ride their bike will be dismissed at 1:55pm (12:55pm on Mondays). All students must walk their bikes while crossing the street and while on school property. There will be two crossing guards present on Memorial Highway. Kindergarten students may walk to and from school, if the parent gives written permission on the “How I Will Get Home From School” form. The School Board of Hillsborough County cannot supervise students once they leave the school campus.

Teacher and Classroom Assignments
Teacher and classroom assignments have been completed. All assignments are temporary until the official student counts are completed. Due to the school and grade enrollment, adjustments may be necessary.
