The Hillsborough Reads initiative is an opportunity to foster a love for reading within the community. It encourages students, families, and staff to engage in reading together that can truly make a lasting impact. The theme for this year "Get Caught Reading".

          Here’s a wonderful reminder about the power of reading! The more we read, the more we improve—not just in reading speed and comprehension, but in our overall communication and cognitive abilities. Reading is essential in almost every aspect of life, and it’s especially important to foster good reading habits early on in children. By reading together or listening to your child read, you’re not only helping them improve academically but also bonding over shared experiences and setting them up for long-term success.

Here are a few benefits of reading regularly with your child:

i-Ready is an excellent tool for helping students continue learning at their own pace, and it’s great that it offers both personalized lessons and Learning Games to keep them engaged! This app can be accessed through Clever. Here’s how i-Ready Personalized Instruction can benefit your student:

• Skill-Level-Based: i-Ready tailors lessons to each student’s individual skill level, so they are always working at the right pace. This helps build their confidence and mastery of concepts without feeling overwhelmed.

• Reading Level: It matches books to a student’s current reading level, ensuring they are challenged appropriately without feeling overwhelmed.
• Ratings of Previously Read Books: As students rate books they've read, myON refines future recommendations to ensure they are offering books that match the student’s preferences.

This personalized approach encourages students to keep reading, helps them build confidence in their abilities, and fosters a love for learning. With a wide variety of titles available, ranging from fiction to non-fiction, and spanning multiple genres, myON offers something for everyone.
