Academy 2027 is a first-of-its-kind program for Eighth Grade students on the campus of Sumner High School—South Shore’s newest school. Academy 2027 will be applying for certification through the internationally respected Cambridge Pathway to become a Cambridge Pre-AICE School. The Cambridge Pre-AICE Program (Advanced International Certification in Education) is designed for academically talented middle school students. Students enrolled in the AICE program will receive a curriculum that prepares them to succeed in rigorous courses in high school and college. In addition to their core classes, Academy 2027 students can also pursue electives like Orchestra, Web Design, Culinary, Agriculture and more. Our Sixth Grade Structure will create a supportive transition into middle school. Students and teachers will become a tight-knit group, moving together through Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grades. After middle school, students are able to remain on the same campus for high school, allowing them seven years in the same nurturing environment. Academy 2027 students will spend time almost exclusively with their own Class of 2027 peer group of EighthGrade students, largely separated from high school students—while getting access to a state-of-the-art high school level auditorium, athletic facilities and more.
