Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System
Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System provides diagnostic and instructional support services to district exceptional student education programs statewide. Throughout Florida there are 19 FDLRS Associate Centers, serving one to nine districts each, and 2 Specialized Centers that serve the entire State of Florida.
FDLRS collaborates with districts, agencies, communities, and other personnel and educational entities providing education and support for students with disabilities.
FDLRS activities are grouped into four primary areas:
- Child Find
- Human Resources Development (HRD)
- Parent Services
The MISSION of the FDLRS Associate Center Network is to support the implementation of initiatives developed by the Bureau of Instructional Support and Community Services and local school districts, in partnerships with communities and families. These initiatives include the highest student achievement, safe learning environments, a high performing workforce, and partnerships. FDLRS assists in the enhancement of learner outcomes for students through the provision of leadership in the areas of information dissemination, training, technical assistance to persons involved in the education of students with exceptionalities. Collaboration among centers within the network and across functions to develop resources and products to support the initiatives is essential.
The functions and activities of each Associate Center are consistent with Sections 229.832, 229.834, and 220.8341 of the Florida Statutes.
Selected activities are determined by the Department of Education for all Centers to participate in support of the State goals. Local school districts identify additional activities based on locally assessed needs.
